More About Erin Waage:
Erin is a Western Astrologer from Santa Cruz California with expertise in psychological, medical and vocational astrology, manifesting with moon cycles, energetics of eclipses, gemstones and herbal remedies. Erin has an advanced education from the American Federation School of Astrologers, Judith Hill’s Academy for Astrological Medicine, the Syncretism Society and UEXL’s Mind Body Institute. Erin is the resident astrologer for several establishments including Carmel Valley Ranch and East West Books Mountain View.
The focus of Erin’s work is assisting others through their natal charts, transits and progressions. Her mission is to teach and provide astrological guidance for those on a journey to optimization of mind, body, soul and spirit.

Years ago, I read that becoming a professional astrologer in India requires an eight-year University program followed by a four-year apprenticeship. If this isn’t true, it should be!
Because a vast skill set attends our science and craft, some sort of deep training is necessary. Moreover, in some traditions, the Jyotishi (Indian style) astrologer is expected to adhere to a lifestyle suitable to a saint. This would be wholly unacceptable by Western cultural standards, and, realistically, too much to ask of young astrologers eager to hang out their shingles. However, there is a good reason for the expectation. To spiritually and materially guide others, one’s personal life shouldn’t be messy. Clarity of mind fosters effective reading skills. Wisdom slowly grows in the climate of a calm and centered heart. The psychic sensitivity natural to students of astrology now partners with good psychic boundaries, knowledge, and wisdom.

Today, the centuries long debate regarding “best” house system rages on - nothing new about that! My students are welcome to use any system they prefer! Who am I to declare that “my” pet system is the only one that works! That said, the ancient Whole Sign House System is the only system that automatically displays “aversion” between any two planets. (Aversion is a specific angular relationship between two whole signs that have nothing in common by either Element or Mode and underpins our preeminent health aspect - the quincunx). We will describe this in more detail below.
