Judith Hill

Academy Founder, Lead Teacher and President

Judith Hill is an award winning author of thirteen books including the classics: Medical Astrology, A Guide to Planetary Pathology, The Astrological Body Types, Vocational Astrology (winner of the 1999 American Federation of Astrologers, Inc. “Best Book Award”) and The Lunar Nodes: Your Key to Excellent Chart Interpretation. She produced The Renaissance Medicine Conferences and created the course Medical Astrology 101© and the Medical Astrology in Action: Let’s Read Charts!© and Astrological Herbalism Decoded©. Hill was possibly the first to introduce Western Medical Astrology to Szechuan, China. She is a Chartered Herbalist with Dominion Herbal College. Hill documented the natal and transit health influences of the Lunar Nodes and the medical impact of eclipses by sign and conjunct natal planets and created the first polarity based nodal eclipse calendar. She published Medical Astrology for Health Practitioners and Medical Astrology in Action: The Transits of Health. An internationally recognized researcher, Hill published significant statistical research on astro-genetics and astro-seismology and has served as the Educational Director for the San Francisco NCGR; and as the private assistant to the great physicist Arthur Young at The Institute of the Study of Consciousness and advisor/designer for Joan Margalith for her pioneering Infinity radio show. A road-tested astrologer with decades of consulting experience in all genres of astrology, Judith successfully matched five biographies with five natal charts in an 1987 NCGR sponsored skeptic's challenge. Hill is also faculty with Kepler College and The Matthew Wood Institute of Herbalism.

Melissa Behm

Director of Operations

Melissa is the proud mom of a 2 year old girl and two dogs. She's also fluent in Spanish and is a practicing Herbalist and Astrologer based in New Jersey. She has a background in Pharmaceuticals, spanning different roles from HR, Communications, IT, Analytics and Finance. After many years working in Pharma, Melissa quit the corporate life to dive into Astrology and Herbalism full-time. With a degree in Business Management, she's happy to leverage her skills to serve the Academy and it's mission to make Medical Astrology more accessible across the world.

Dr. Caroline Bergeron

Tech Assistant

Dr. Caroline is from Montréal, Canada and is a licensed Chiropractor in the state of Illinois where she resides. She is an Astrologer and teaches Astrology courses for beginners. She offers private readings with Health and relationships being her main practice vocation. Dr. Caroline is also fluent in French and an enthusiast of wellness practices; she enjoys practicing Pure Barre which is a ballet style movement class that focuses on posture and flexibility.

Mark Polit

Academy Advisor

Mark studied Astrology for several years under the personal guidance of Master Astrologer Judith Hill. He co-authored with Judith the research paper Correlation of Earthquakes with Planetary Placement (1987) and edited her recent masterwork, Medical Astrology in Action, The Transits of Health (2019). He previously researched earthquake hazard of US nuclear facilities. For two decades, Mark lobbied for legislative and regulatory changes to further the empowerment of people with disabilities. Mark has also studied for over 40 years with Siddha meditation masters and he currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area practicing Astrology as well as teaching Dayan (Wild Goose) Qigong under the guidance of Grandmaster Hui Liu. He has been a trusted advisor for both major and minor Academy decisions always with the well-being of students in mind.

Marcus Romano

Academy Tutoring Services

Marcus Romano has been a student of astrology for over two decades, apprenticing with Judith Hill for 6 years, and running his own professional practice for over 13 years. Marcus draws from traditional and Renaissance astrological schools in accordance with Judith Hill’s teachings, while also incorporating some Jyotish techniques into his work. In his practice, Marcus regularly gives readings answering medical questions and providing surgery dates for clients. He is adept at all branches of astrology, as well as yogic studies, numerology, cross-cultural mythology, herbology, permaculture, and US law. Marcus has tutored students all branches of astrology for the past 7 years including medical astrology. Marcus is offering up fee based 1-1 tutoring for eager students of the Academy.

Matthew Wood

Academy Herbal Advisor

Matthew Wood began studying herbalism at age 13 - 1967, the summer of love, when a National Guardsman on the run to Canada handed him a copy of The Teachings of Don Juan. Those were heady days. He studied botany at the University of Minnesota; got his Masters of Science degree from the Scottish School of Herbal Medicine (accredited by the University of Wales). He began practice in 1981 at Present Moment Herbs in south Minneapolis. He is the author of ten books on herbal medicine, including The Book of Herbal Medicine, The Earthwise Herbal Repertory, and Holistic Medicine and the Extracellular Matrix. He teaches online through the Matthew Wood Institute of Herbalism.

MISSION STATEMENT

‘The Academy of Astrological Medicine’ is dedicated to the preservation, protection, and dissemination of ancient and modern medical astrology, and to the medical system of ‘astrological physick’; and to upholding the specific legacy, approach, works, and teachings of our founder Judith Hill, plus the encouragement of further research, exchange, enlightenment, and discovery within this field. Our motto: “altitudo, latitudo et claritus” - depth, breadth, and clarity.

  • Further the awareness of and respect for all practical astrological branches, including medical astrology and astrological physick.

  • Maintain, preserve, protect, and disseminate the legacy of our founder Judith Hill, her specific insights, approach, methods, classes, courses, teachings.

  • Through education, research, and discovery, promote the dignity and professionalism of medical astrology, and the general field and science of astrology.

  • Preserve and disseminate the knowledge of ancient and traditional astrological techniques, including, but not limited to medical astrology and ‘astrological physick.'

  • Facilitate and encourage methological research and research exchanges on medical astrology and the other branches of practical astrology.

  • Offer a thorough curriculum on all six branches of medical astrology, and of the healing system known as ‘astrological physick’ and their sub-branches: 1) Natal. 2) Transit and Progressed Methods 3) Horary 4) Electional. 5) Remedials. 6) Collective Trends
