Judith's Background

Judith’s fascination with reincarnation began at age fourteen, when she discovered the collected case readings of the great American seer Edgar Cayce on reincarnation and the transmigration of the soul. That early discovery launched what would become a decades-long exploration of reincarnation, consciousness, spiritual philosophy, and the nature of the soul.

Her research has ranged widely across Eastern and Western spiritual and religious traditions. Over the years, Hill has undertaken in-depth studies of the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda, Vedanta, Ramana Maharshi, Meishu Sama and Johrei, Buddhism, Christianity in its many forms, Gnosticism, Judaism, Sufism, the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), pre-Christian Celtic traditions, Western metaphysical traditions, and the spiritual traditions of several Native American nations.

Far beyond books, Judith has explored extensive specialized libraries, participated in a remarkably diverse range of spiritual circles and communities, and met numerous teachers, researchers, mystics, and unconventional thinkers whose work investigated consciousness and the nature of human existence. Among those she personally knew were maverick physicists Arthur Young, Ph.D., and Buryl Payne, Ph.D.; renowned tarot teacher Jason Lotterhand; and published reincarnation and past-life researcher Helen Wambach.

Reincarnation has also intersected directly with Hill’s lifelong work as an astrologer. Through decades of private natal-chart readings, she has independently investigated whether patterns within the birth chart might offer clues to previous incarnations, karmic themes, and the continuing development of the soul.

Her research included the study of past-life cases obtained through deep hypnosis. She even participated in an unusual experiment with psychologist and hypnotist Julia Ingram involving three individuals whose presumed past lives had already been explored and discussed through hypnosis. Working from just their birth charts, Hill attempted to identify the nature of those previous lives and correctly matched all three charts with the past-life identities the participants had previously accepted.

Her interest in the continuity of consciousness extends beyond human life. In 2006, Hill privately published a booklet exploring the question of soul life in animals. Although the booklet is no longer in print, her audio lecture, Do Animals Have Souls?, remains available through our Academy and is included as a free bonus for everyone who signs up for this class. Judith approaches reincarnation as an open field of inquiry rather than a doctrine that must be accepted. She welcomes and respects differing viewpoints and considers the material presented in her comparative lectures on reincarnation to be hypothetical, not necessarily representative of her personal spiritual or religious beliefs.
